Stratus clouds are clouds of low altitude. In Latin, Stratus means spread out. These stratus clouds are a gray blanket of clouds and are usually spotted after a rain shower or snow flurries. These form when warm air gets moist and forms into cold air. When it is warm, the flurries come. They are formed from water droplets. They look like a blanket or sometimes a little space in between. Stratus clouds do not produce a hard down poor, they only cause a little drizzle. After the drizzle the air is warm.
